Exploratory Work - Story Boarding

As part of my exploratory work, I have created this story board as planning shots I will be using in my trailer and also in my poster. This has helped me to decide the duration of my trailer and the shots, setting, lighting ans sound I will be using. This has helped me to develop my narrative and give me a USP form other horror films.

Shot Types
Here are some exploratory shots, which could be seen on my poster and website. They have helped me to decide on shot types, lighting and angles. It has also helped me to prepare for technical problems I may face when capturing my final photographs. I have made clothing codes very apparent here to convey the stereotype of a youth. To develop this, the next stage will be to edit my photographsd in an image minipulation software.

Here is another typography that I have created. I was hoping to achieve something that was less obvious to link to my narrative, as my previous ides included devil horns. I have tried to interperate the codes and conventions ofl the hooror genre, by using the effect of smeared blood. Finally I added a drop shadow to the type face which gave this effect shown above.

Assignment 2 - Pitch Schedule

Through starting the development of my pitch I have realised that in order to justify my responses I need to start my exploratary earlier than i had planned in my schedule to visaually describe my ideas.

Beyonce Knowles

After forecasting my costs I then realised that although I am constricted to using software like Microsoft publisher and IMovie, it would be good to find pricing for the more professional software, for example final cut studio. I have found that the costing for this would be £949.95. I will consider this when finalising my total campaign budget. After more development I will also need to consider how much it would cost to use certain artists soundtracks in my film trailer. I know from previous research that this can be quite expensive.

 Exploratory Work

For part of my exploratory work I have created this typography design for an intial idea of what the main title of my film could look like. I created this on an image minipulation software called Macromedia Fireworks. I started by downloading an existing type face form the internet, where I then opened it within my chosen software. I chose to add a deep red colour to the font as it can have the connotation of blood, which is associated with the codes and conventions of the horror genre. Then I went on to experimented with effects and chose to add an inner glow to it, which gave the existing effect, which is shown below. I decided to add some images of blood drips and splatters, which also follows the codes and conventions of horror. I placed some of these under letters to create the effects that the typography is made from blood and has smudged. Finally I added devil horns through using a line tool.

Product content analysis - Movie posters

Project Proposal

I have decided that I want to go with the option of creating a promotion package for a new film. I will be including a teaser trailer, a poster and a film magazine front cover that will feature the film. By created a research schedule, I am able to plan and use my time effectively. My product content research will enable me to realise the codes and conventions used within a professional product and also how representations and ideologies are conveyed to the audience through the mode of address. I am also able to see recurring content the is applied to proffessional promotional packaging.
